I sometimes think that for it is the mission of Barry Chamish in this
world to serve as a sort of walking IQ test for Israelis and Jews outside
Israel. The idea is that those who are incapable of seeing through the
nonsense and lunacy of Chamish conspiracy "theories "must be seriously
IQ-challenged. Nothing else could explain their failure. And there
remain quite a few of these at the fringes of the Israeli anti-Oslo Right.

After all, Chamish is the same "journalist" who claims to have documented
UFOs all over the place. He claims that Shimon Peres knocked down JFK
Jr's plane, and that the publishers of Foreign Affairs magazine were the real
people who knocked down the World Trade Center in NY and NOT bin Laden.
Bin Laden, like Yigal Amir, is innocent and getting a bad rap in the
press, at least if you believe the Chamish theories.

Chamish also claims he has "proved" that Yitzhak Rabin was murdered by a
conspiracy perpetrated by the Israeli intelligence services and led by
Shimon Peres, and that Yigal Amir did not shoot Rabin in spite of his
insisting that he did. For reasons I cannot explain, some people who
dismiss the other Chamish theories as nonsense have trouble seeing how
nonsensical this theory of Chamish's is also, based on precisely the same
tools of detection employed by Chamish to prove his UFO theories and all
those other crakcpot "theories" about conspiracies.

Finally, this is the same Chamish who evidently has close ties with
certain neonazi and Holocaust Denial groups, close enough for them to
reprint his conspiracy theories in their web sites and to invite Chamish
to speak at the Holocaust Denial conference they had planned to hold in
Sacramento last year. It was canceled at the last minute. While Chamish
himself is not a Holocaust Denier, he seems to make a point of getting his
theories carried by many anti-Semitic and neonazi web sites and magazines,
as a google of his name will show you.

Meanwhile, Chamish's latest "theory" is that General Rafael Eitan or
Raful,
who drowned last week in Ashdod, was murdered. The evidence behind this
"theory" is truly classic Chamish, employing exactly the same set of
misrepresentations, non sequiturs, leaps of unfounded fantasy, and
outright lies that have become the Chamish trademark. Chamish's new
"theory" is expounded at http://web.israelinsider.com/Views/4467.htm and
in other places on the web.

Israeli police concluded that Raful had been standing on the edge of the
breakwater in a windy gale and that he had been knocked into the surf by a
large wave and drowned.

Briefly, Chamish concludes that Raful was murdered because:

1. AT 7 AM on the day of the drowning, Raful was telling a worker he was
going to the port and to check some port equipment. Raful worked as
consultant for a construction firm building something in the port area.
This phone call was cut short, says Chamish.
Now this will immediately strike anyone as highly suspicious, unless they
have actually had or used a cell phone in Israel, where calls get cut off
all the time, especially in storms.

2. Raful showed up in the port area around 8, plus or minus almost an
hour, parked his car, and went walking about, while the waves were
unusually high and strong that day. Chamish thinks it is suspicious that
it is unclear whether Raful arrived exactly at 8, a bit before, or a bit
after, and that his body was found only at 9. But Raful was not exactly
punching in a time clock, and he was also not under surveillance by
someone watching him to note the time he fell into the surf.

3. Chamish thinks it was suspicious that Raful was on the breakwater in
the first place. But Chamish thinks everything in this world is
suspicious. All it means was that Raful walked on the breakwater near the
high waves. It was part of Rafu'ls job to spend time at the port near the
construction work his employer was doing.

4. Chamish then "proves" his theory the way he always does, by asking
questions that seemingly point to suspicious directions but always have
alternative innocent far-more-plausible answers that have nothing to do
with nefarious conspiracies.

Here are the Chamish questions:

"Why was Eitan alone in such conditions?" (Because he wanted to be and
did not go places with babysitters.)

"Why did no one see him fall in?" (Cause he was alone and did not take a
babysitter with him, the same reason why no one saw Chamish use the
facilities this morning after breakfast.)

"Eitan was a good swimmer. If he fell off a pier, why didn't he swim to
safety a few feet away?" (Maybe he hit his head when he fell in, and in
any case good swimmers often drown in stormy seas.)

"Couldn't Ashtrom have sent a worker to inspect the equipment?" (Maybe
they COULD have, so what. Couldnt Chamish have purchased Microsoft shares back
when it traded for pennies? Yes he COULD have. So what? He didnt.
Maybe Eitan wanted to do it in person, alone. Maybe he wanted some fresh
air.)

"Was there some necessity for Eitan to arrive at 7 AM, an hour before work
began, on a cold, rainy morning?" (Suppose it was not necessary. SO
what? Was it absolutely necessary for Chamish to eat breakfast today?
But he DID.)

"Why, in 2003, was Eitan given this job in the first place? He was a
farmer and soldier, with no harbor building experience." (Ask Ashtrom.
What does this have to do with anything? Unless you think space aliens
arranged the consulting gig for Raful in 03 to arrange for him to drown in
late 04. If someone were plotting 18 months ago to do Raful in, why was
he not done in back then? Why wait 18 months? Alas, such are the
suspicious questions Chamish never bothers to ask in his "theories".)

"Why wasn't Eitan's family informed of his passing?" (They were, just not
immediately. Raful was not exactly being followed around by a film crew.
News, even in the age of internet, takes a while to diffuse. Why did
Chamish not inform us the very moment when his appearance before the
Holocaust Deniers was scheduled but waited a while?)

Chamish then concludes that there were no dangerous waves at the
breakwater because in photos taken hours or days later the sea was calm.
Except that 6 million Israelis know there was a strong storm that day and
so does the meteorological service. Chamish also claims Raful only walked
on the safe calm side of the breakwater because that is where his car was
found parked, and never strolled over to the dangerous side to watch the
surf, and I guess Chamish was told this by a UFO flyer because Chamish
himself
was not there. And besides, people never go walking from one side of a
breakwater to another or walk away from their parked car. It is far more
plausible that Raful was Shanghai-ed and banged on the head and tossed
into the surf by people who must have arrived by UFO because no other cars were
spotted near the scene.

Finally, Chamish says Raful's car was damaged in ways that are not
consistent with a big wave. As you know, cars in Israel are never driven
after they have been damaged. Strangely, the police found nothing at all
about the car they thought was suspicious, nor did any of the legion of
real journalists who quickly showed up at the scene.

Chamish claims the car damage is suspicious, this on the basis of a photo
of a damaged car, which might or might not have been the real car of
Raful. And even if it was Raful's car, the damage could have come from
towing it or it being hit in a previous accident, although most likely it
simply was not the correct photo of the correct car. Or its brakes were
not locked properly and it flipped over the side off the breakwater which
is what caused the drowning to begin with. Or
else Chamish invented the whole connection between the photo and Raful's
car, which would not be entirely inconsistent for him.

The car was parked on the safe or calm side of the breakwater, says
Chamish, which in Chamishian logic means that Raful could not possibly
have strolled to the other side of the breakwater. (It actually
reinforces the conjecture that Chamish's photo is not of Raful's car at
all.) Far more plausible that Sharon sent a secret death squad to knock
him off and never mind that Raful was a political supporter of the Right
but had left politics and so was not a political threat to anyone, not
even the dog-catcher.

And finally, in Chamish's view, all the above can only be explained by a
nefarious plot by Sharon to murder Raful, and never mind that Raful had
left politics and public life and no one could possibly have had any
motive to see him harmed. The police and all the real journalists who
investigated the drowning saw nothing suspicious nor inconsistent with
accidental drowning, which in the world of Chamish's little band of cult
followers just PROVES how grand the nefarious plot must have been.

In short, the Chamish school of comic book detective diplomas and secret
Crackerjack box encryption rings is back in operation.

The amazing thing is that Chamish has not yet attributed the freak storm
that day to intervention in earthly affairs by one of those flying saucers
he keeps discovering while using precisely the same detective skills and
techniques he uses to prove that a Shin-Bet conspiracy killed Rabin. You
know, that same conspiracy where Yigal Amir was a patsy and really did not
kill Rabin, except that apparently no one ever bothered to let Amir know
that Chamish has proved he is innocent so Amir keeps insisting
unexplainably he is guilty and that he alone shot Rabin.

Yeah, THAT conspiracy.

Anti-Semitic publisher convicted
Associated Press, THE JERUSALEM POST Nov. 24, 2004

A Moscow court on Wednesday convicted an editor of publishing articles
inciting ethnic hatred and gave him a suspended sentence, news reports
said.

The Moscow Timiryazev District Court found Viktor Korchagin, the editor of
the Rusich magazine, guilty of stirring up ethnic and religious hatred and
handed him a one-year suspended prison sentence which means he will not
be jailed.

The verdict marked a rare occasion when a Russian court moved against
anti-Semitic publications, which have flooded Russian cities.

Korchagin was charged after a World War II veteran complained that his
publication carried anti-Semitic materials. Experts, consulted by
investigators, backed the claim.

Bashing the Boy Scouts
November 26, 2004; Page A8

Legal historians may someday explain how the once-great American Civil
Liberties Union came to see the Boy Scouts as public enemy number one. In
the meantime, the ACLU keeps on bringing its absurd First Amendment
challenges against the Scouts. The Defense Department is the latest
defendant to throw in the towel.

The issue this time is the status of Scout troops on military bases. Most
troops have institutional sponsors, and the military has traditionally
performed this function for troops on bases, especially overseas where
other options aren't readily available. The ACLU claims this is religious
discrimination because the Boy Scouts require members to believe in God.

That argument received a boost last week when the Defense Department
agreed to issue an all-points reminder that official sponsorship of Boy
Scout troops is against departmental rules. The edict is unlikely to have
much practical effect, since most troops can continue under private
sponsorship. But the PR effect is immense. Defense admitted no guilt -- a
subtlety that went mostly unnoticed in the media rush to report the ACLU's
"victory."

If all this weren't silly enough, another part of the ACLU lawsuit uses
the same church-state argument to object to the famous Boy Scout Jamboree,
held since 1981 at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia. This time the military is
willing to fight the charges, which eventually will be decided by a
federal court in Illinois. The Scouts receive no direct financial support
from the Army for the Jamboree -- though the ACLU contends there are
indirect costs involved.

But so what? The military earns a lot of public goodwill and A.P. Hill's
soldiers learn a thing or two in helping to put up a temporary city and
police 35,000 energetic teenage males. The Army even comes out ahead
financially. The Scouts expect to spend $29 million on next year's
Jamboree -- and that's on top of the $12 million or more that they've
already put into the base's permanent infrastructure. The military and
other civilian groups make use of those facilities when the Scouts aren't
there, which is all but nine days every four years.

Ever since the Supreme Court upheld the Scouts' First Amendment right to
bar Scoutmasters who are openly gay, the ACLU has looked for softer
targets. The suit against the military is one of a series aimed at getting
communities to deny access to public facilities. The original lawsuit also
challenged the city of Chicago's sponsorship of troops in public schools,
another venue where sponsors aren't always easy to find. The city settled.

In Connecticut the ACLU has succeeded in getting the state to remove the
Scouts from the list of charitable institutions to which public employees
may make voluntary contributions. And earlier this year it settled a suit
against the city of San Diego, which agreed to evict the Scouts from a
public park they have been using since 1918. The Scouts countersued, lost,
and the case is now on appeal before the Ninth Circuit.

The question no one seems to be asking is, who's better off as a result of
these lawsuits? Surely not the 3.2 million Boy Scouts, whose venerable
organization is part of the web of voluntary associations once considered
the bedrock of American life. If anything, the purpose of the ACLU attacks
is to paint Scouts as religious bigots. Other losers are communities
themselves, which are forced to sever ties to an organization that helps
to build character in young men.

It's been 20 years since the ACLU brought its first suit against the
Scouts. If there's one thing we've learned by now, it's that the ACLU
offensive says more about the degraded status of the civil liberties group
than it does about the Boy Scouts.

MP's blast Blair's ME policy
http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20041125-102024-4670r.htm
London, England, Nov. 25 (UPI)

British opposition lawmakers criticized Prime Minister Tony Blair's
lenient policy toward Israel, which they charged defied international law.

Members of Parliament and British peace activists met late Wednesday to
show solidarity with the Palestinians and called for an end to Israel's
occupation of Palestinian territories.

MP Jeanny Tong from the opposition Democratic Liberal Party told UPI "the
Middle East peace process is going through difficult times necessitating
the biggest pressures on the British government because we simply are not
happy with the way it is dealing with that process."

Tong called on the international community to "exert more pressures on
Israel, whether the United States agreed or not, in order to stop its
hostile operations against Palestinians during elections for a new
Palestinian president scheduled early next year."

She said Europe should impose economic sanctions on Israel if it failed to
follow the roadmap to Middle East peace.

Who US? Anti-Semites? US?
by Steven Plaut

We have nothing against Jews as such. We just hate Zionism and Zionists.
We think Israel does not have a right to exist. But that does not mean we
have anything against Jews as such. Heavens to Mergatroyd. Marx Forbid. We
are humanists. Progressives. Peace lovers.

Anti-Semitism is the hatred of Jews. Anti-Zionism is opposition to Zionism
and Israeli policies. The two have nothing to do with one another. Venus
and Mars. Night and day. Trust us.

Sure, we think the only country on the earth that must be annihilated is
Israel. But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.

Sure, we think that the only children on earth whose being blown up is
okay if it serves a good cause are Jewish children. But that does not mean
we have anything against Jews as such.

Sure, we think that if Palestinians have legitimate grievances this
entitles them to mass murder Jews. But that does not mean we have anything
against Jews as such.

Naturally, we think that the only people on earth who should never be
allowed to exercise the right of self-defense are the Jews. Jews should
only resolve the aggression against them through capitulation, never
through self-defense. But that does not mean we have anything against Jews
as such.

We only denounce racist apartheid in the one country in the Middle East
that is not a racist apartheid country. But that does not mean we have
anything against Jews as such.

We refuse to acknowledge the Jews as a people, and think they are only a
religion. We do not have an answer to how people who do not practice the
Jewish religion can still be regarded as Jews. But that does not mean we
have anything against Jews as such.

We think that all peoples have the right to self-determination, except
Jews, and including even the make-pretend "Palestinian people". But that
does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.

We hate it when people blame the victims, except of course when people
blame the Jews for the jihads and terrorist campaigns against them. But
that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.

We think the only country in the Middle East that is a fascist
anti-democratic one is the one that has free elections. But that does not
mean we have anything against Jews as such.

We demand that the only country in the Middle East with free speech, free
press or free courts be destroyed. But that does not mean we have
anything against Jews as such.

We oppose military aggression, except when it is directed at Israel. But
that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.

We really understand suicide bombers who murder bus loads of Jewish
children and we insist that their demands be met in full. But that does
not mean we have anything against Jews as such.

We do not think that Jews have any human rights that need to be respected,
and especially not the right to ride a bus without being murdered. But
that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.

There are Jewish, leftist anti-Zionists and we consider this proof that
anti-Zionists could not possibly be anti-Semitic; not even the ones who
cheer when Jews are mass murdered. These are the only Jews we think need
be acknowledged or respected. But that does not mean we have anything
against Jews as such.
.
We think the only conflict on earth that must be solved through
dismembering one of the parties to that conflict is the one involving
Israel. But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.

We do not think murder proves how righteous and just the cause of the
murderer is, except when it comes to murderers of Jews. But that does not
mean we have anything against Jews as such.

We do not think the Jews are entitled to their own state and must submit
to being a minority in a Rwanda-style bi-national state, although no other
state on earth, including the 22 Arab countries, should be similarly
expected to be deprived of its sovereignty. But that does not mean we have
anything against Jews as such.

We think that Israels having a Jewish majority and a star on its flag
makes it a racist apartheid state. We do not think any other country
having an ethnic-religious majority or having crosses or crescents or
Allah Akbar on its flag is racist or needs dismemberment. But that does
not mean we have anything against Jews as such.

We condemn the mistreatment of women in the only country of the Middle
East in which they are not mistreated. But that does not mean we have
anything against Jews as such.

We condemn the mistreatment of minorities in the only country in the
Middle East in which minorities are not brutally suppressed and mass
murdered. But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.

We demand equal citizen rights, which is why the only country in the
Middle East in need of extermination is the only one in which such rights
exist. But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as such.

We have no trouble with the fact that there is no freedom of religion in
any Arab countries. But we are mad as hell at Israel for violating
religious freedom, and never mind that we are never quite sure where or
when it does so. But that does not mean we have anything against Jews as
such.

So how can you possibly say we are anti-Semites? We are simply
anti-Zionists. We seek peace and justice, thats all. And surely that does
not mean we have anything against Jews as such .

1. Oh those poor sad Canadians:

Subject: fleeing liberals

The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has
intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop
the illegal immigration.

The re-election of President Bush is prompting the exodus among
left-leaning citizens who fear they'll soon be required to hunt, pray and
agree with Bill O'Reilly.

Canadian border farmers say its not uncommon to see dozens of sociology
professors, animal rights activists and Unitarians crossing their fields
at night.

"I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood
producer huddled in the barn," said Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose
acreage borders North Dakota. The producer was cold, exhausted and hungry.

"He asked me if I could spare a latte and some free-range chicken. When
Isaid I didn't have any, he left. Didn't even get a chance to show him my
screenplay, eh?"

In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences
but the liberals scaled them. So he tried installing speakers that blare
Rush Limbaugh across the fields.

"Not real effective," he said. The liberals still got through, and Rush
annoyed the cows so much they wouldn't give milk."

Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals
near
the Canadian border, pack them into Volvo station wagons, drive them
across
the border and leave them to fend for themselves.

"A lot of these people are not prepared for rugged conditions," an Ontario
border patrolman said. I found one carload without a drop of drinking
water. They did have a nice little Napa Valley cabernet, though."

When liberals are caught, they're sent back across the border, often
wailing loudly that they fear retribution from conservatives. Rumors have
been circulating about the Bush administration establishing re-education
camps in which liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer and watch
NASCAR.

In the days since the election, liberals have turned to sometimes
ingenious
ways of crossing the border.

Some have taken to posing as senior citizens on bus trips to buy cheap
Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half-dozen young vegans
disguised in powdered wigs, Canadian immigration authorities began
stopping
buses and quizzing the supposed senior-citizen passengers.

"If they can't identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we
get suspicious about their age," an official said.

Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating
an organic-broccoli shortage and renting all the good Susan Sarandon
movies.

"I feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just can't
support them," an Ottawa resident said. "How many art-history majors does
one country need?"

In an effort to ease tensions between the United States and Canada, Vice
President Dick Cheney met with the Canadian ambassador and pledged that
the
administration would take steps to reassure liberals, a source close to
Cheney said. "We're going to have some Peter, Paul & Mary concerts, and we
might put some endangered species on postage stamps. The president is
determined to reach out."

4 Syria - The New Middle East Darling
Friday, November 19, 2004

By Nir Boms and Erick Stakelbeck
With Yasser Arafat's death, Europe has lost its oldest and dearest Arab
despot. But the race to replace him as the European Union's favored Middle
East tyrant has already begun -- and we seem to have a winner. Late last
month, just days before Arafat was flown to Paris to receive medical
treatment, the European Commission and Syria signed an "Association
Agreement" that strengthened Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad's iron grip
on power. Amazingly, this significant development was all but ignored by
the Western media.

Over the past several months, a combination of American sanctions,
pressure from Syrian pro-democracy activists and a long overdue U.N.
resolution (co-sponsored by France and the U.S.) calling for the immediate
withdrawal of Syrian forces from Lebanon had seriously weakened Assad's
regime. His continued support for Islamist terrorism and the insurgency in
Iraq, combined with Syria's struggling economy and high unemployment rate,
only made matters worse for the young dictator.

---

But just in his hour of greatest despair, the EU inexplicably came to his
rescue, providing Assad with a much-needed life line. The association
agreement between the EU and Syria, signed in Brussels on Oct. 19,
completed the EU's "Euro-Mediterranean Partnership" to strengthen economic
and political ties in the region. The EU cited Syria's supposedly newfound
commitment to fight terrorism and promote human rights to justify the deal
with Damascus. The facts, however, don't support the EU's view of things
-- Syria's record in these two areas is abysmal.

Although the Bush administration has repeatedly warned Assad to stop the
infiltration of terrorists from Syria into Iraq and close the Damascus
offices of terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad,
little has changed in this regard. In recent weeks, American troops
stationed along Iraq's border with Syria have complained of mortar attacks
directed at U.S. and Iraqi positions from within Syrian territory,
presumably by Islamist terrorists. While it's unlikely that the Syrian
military is directly involved in these attacks, they could certainly not
take place without the military's tacit support. Syria is a tightly
controlled police state based on the same Baa'th ideology of Saddam's Iraq
-- nothing happens there without approval from Damascus.

Despite repeated American warnings, the Assad regime has chosen to promote
chaos in Iraq, with some reports even suggesting that remnants of the
Iraqi Baa'th Party are directing the terror and insurgency there from
within Syria. The announcement on Nov. 7 by Syrian Foreign Minister Faruq
al-Shara that Syria plans to sign a border cooperation deal with the new
Iraqi government in the coming months will do little to allay American
concerns. Indeed, American troops reportedly had to close a portion of the
Iraq/Syria border due to security issues. And earlier this month, Iraqi
government television broadcast the confessions of 19 foreign insurgents
captured in Iraq, five of whom were Syrian.

Perhaps the most troubling aspect is a story the Washington Times reported
in late October. According to the paper, Russian special forces, working
with Iraqi intelligence, had moved a large cache of arms from Iraq's
Al-Qaqaa facility to Syria at the outset of the Iraq War. This report
followed months of speculation that Iraqi WMDs had been transported to
Syria by Saddam Hussein's regime just prior to the U.S. invasion. In
addition, a report in German daily Die Welt last month said that Syria, in
conjunction with the Sudanese government, had recently tested chemical
weapons on Sudanese civilians in the embattled Darfur region, murdering
dozens.

This brings us to another serious problem: Syria's WMDs programs. In
testimony before the U.S. House International Relations Committee,
Undersecretary for Arms Control and International Security John Bolton
said that Syria has one of the most advanced chemical weapons programs in
the Middle East, with "a stockpile of the nerve agent sarin that can be
delivered by aircraft or ballistic missiles." Mr. Bolton also stated that
Syria is "continuing to develop an offensive biological weapons
capability" and has developed long-range Scud missiles with which to
deliver them. The fight against WMD proliferation is, at least officially,
one of the EU's main foreign policy priorities. So there was much
squabbling about the precise wording of the clause in the agreement
designed to commit the Syrians to the same goals. In the end, however, the
parties agreed on very vague language and the agreement itself lacks any
monitoring system to verify Syrian compliance. Europe's answer to the
threat of WMDs in the hands of ruthless dictators with close ties to
terrorists is to present them with a lucrative free trade agreement. In
exchange the Europeans receive an unverifiable promise from the dictator
to behave and "to take action towards" signing international
non-proliferation treaties. The world is still waiting, by the way, for
Assad to honor another treaty obligation, the one his father gave 15 years
ago to leave Lebanon.

On the human rights front, things don't look much better. Since coming to
power in 2000, Assad has often spoken of fostering a more open, democratic
society and of respecting the rights of all Syrians. But despite Assad's
flowery rhetoric, Syria remains a bastion of repression.

Just last month, Syrian authorities closed down a leading pro-democracy
website, www.liberalsyria.com, and arrested its founder, Nabil Fayyed, on
the specious charge of "publishing forbidden content." The following week,
a prominent Syrian Kurdish pro-democracy activist, Mas'oud Hamid, was
sentenced to five years in prison for his alleged involvement in a vaguely
defined "secret organization." Of course, neither Mr. Hamid nor Mr. Fayyed
received mention in the 1450-page association agreement, which demands
from Syria to respect human rights and democratic principles.

---

From its stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to Iraq and beyond,
the EU -- in its push to become a global counterweight to the United
States -- has proven more than willing to embrace tyrants and terrorists.
In helping to revitalize the Assad regime, the EU has not only let down
all the courageous pro-democracy activists who are risking their lives in
Syria -- it has also made the world less safe.

Our institutes of lower learning; [Daily Edition]
DANIEL DORON. Jerusalem Post. Jerusalem: Nov 11, 2004. pg. 15
Abstract (Document Summary)
In a Social Activism Day at Hebrew University, almost all the booths
enlisting student volunteers were New Israel Fund, pro- Palestinian and
anti-capitalist fronts. These "social action" organizations, pursuing the
double agenda of anti-Zionism and anti- capitalism, reflect the teaching
of many of our professors, especially in the social sciences and
humanities. Protected by academic tenure, they teach Marx as a great
economist, but barely mention market economics, and if yes, only
negatively (from a long litany of market failures to the "fact" that
Milton Friedman - an ally of Pinochet - has not only ruined the economy of
Chile but also Israel's, as adviser to Menachem Begin).

A search of the Hebrew University library catalog reveals hundreds of
citations for Marx, but only three for Smith, Friedman and Hayek. In 30
years, Friedman's Capitalism and Freedom has been borrowed 12 times - an
indication of how often he is mentioned by our liberal and pluralistic
professors. Most graduates of economics know only economic "technology,"
but nothing about the ideas that underlie a free-market economy. There is
no course offered on the history of economic ideas.

THE WELL-FUNDED welfare lobby never rests. In the recent Sderot Social
Conference, it assembled various groups from academia, the government and
other "social agency" bureaucracies (such as the Jewish Agency) with NGO
advocacy groups to promote what they call "a civil agenda" - as distinct
from the economic and security agenda that they claim dominates two other
famous gatherings, the Herzliya and the Caesarea conferences.

Most economics graduates know economic 'technology,' but nothing about the

Despite Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's courageous economic reforms,
the Israeli economy remains mired in low productivity and growth. High
unemployment, low wages, and the inability of hundreds of thousands of
families to make ends meet create serious social problems.

For some 60 years of socialism and then statism, our economy has been
choked by heavy government regulation and red tape, by inefficient
monopolies, and the misallocation of investments by a banking duopoly.

For decades, Israel has been saddled with "progressive" labor laws and
unemployment benefits that have diminshed the incentive to work. This is
why a nation with arguably the best human capital, a country in which more
than 100 billion foreign dollars have been invested, cannot provide most
of its workers with more than a $1,200 average monthly wage.

But instead of drawing the obvious conclusions and working on pro-market
reforms that will unleash Israel's enormous potential, powerful
ideological groups and vested interests - peopled by our
university-educated elites - are fighting tooth and nail to preserve the
status quo. They fight to make Israeli workers even more dependent on
welfare and political handouts.

Generously funded by Diaspora Jews who ought to know better, such NGOs as
The New Israel Fund (with an annual budget in excess of $20 million) are
spawning hundreds of shell organizations run by Marxists.

And what is this "civil agenda"? You guessed it: poverty, the income gap,
minority "rights" - anything that calls for more government intervention
and expenditure. Poverty's root cause - our anti-productive system - was
not even mentioned.

By appealing to politicians and top bureaucrats with the populist tactic
of holding the conference in a development town rather than in a posh
hotel, the conference managed to draw quite a few of them to its panels.
But poor organization and an attempt to touch on all the pet peeves of the
welfare lobby - from advocacy of greater government involvement in
economic "development" and employment, in education, health, and welfare
to feminism, protest movements and anti-establishment films, to "who is a
Jew," to mourning (an "anti-military" issue) to feminist issues and to
discrimination against minorities - made this a very confusing event
lacking any focus.

But perhaps a focus was not even intended. Maybe the main purpose of the
conference was to advance a radical leftist agenda to center stage. The
telltale sign that this is so was the partial funding of the conference by
The New Israel Fund, and the granting by the conference of its Social
Prize to two of the fund's most radical organizations.

But more about the conference.

On a building at the entrance of the impressive Sapir College campus in
Sderot, a huge sign read: "Education will prevail." The questions that
sprang to mind were "When?" and "In what manner?"

For more than 60 years, Israel has been spending on education as much as,
if not more than, any Western country. The results, however, are dismal.
Not only do Israeli elementary school pupils lag behind those of many
less-developed countries in language skills and mathematics, but our
higher education is also in grave trouble. Admitting ever more
ill-educated students, the universities do very little to help them catch
up on the educational basics that must underpin all learning.

Instead, in most humanities and social science classes, they get
indoctrinated in crypto-Marxist ideas, "post modernist" nihilism, and a
hostility toward markets and enterprise.

Consequently, most university students graduate with a Third World
statist-welfarist orientation. They believe that the national income
somehow descends from heaven like manna, and that the only problem is how
to divide it equitably according to the mantras of "social justice."

Since most of the Israeli elites are university trained, this acquired
mind-cast has had a harmful effect on public debate and policy, and on
Israel's economic performance and the state of its society.

Peru Won't Release Imprisoned N.Y. Woman

ASSOCIATED PRESS
LIMA, Peru (AP) - Peru will not abide by an
international human rights court ruling supporting the
release of Lori Berenson, a New York woman imprisoned
for collaborating with Marxist guerrillas, the
country's foreign minister said, according to news
reports Saturday.
The Inter-American Human Rights Court, the Costa
Rica-based legal arm of the Organization of American
States, is scheduled to deliberate Berenson's case
Nov. 24-25 to decide whether she received a fair
civilian retrial in 2001. Peru is an OAS member.
"If this error were made, the Peruvian state, with
legal justification, would take the position of not
liberating any person accused of terrorism," several
newspapers quoted Foreign Minister Manuel Rodriguez
saying Friday from Santiago, Chile, where he attended
the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.
"In no case would any disposition be observed that
recommends freedom of people accused of terrorism in
Peru."
Berenson, 34, was arrested in 1995 for allegedly
helping the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement. Former
President Alberto Fujimori identified her as a leader
in a foiled plan to seize Peru's Congress and exchange
hostages for imprisoned MRTA members.
Berenson was convicted by hooded military judges, who
denied her a chance to present evidence or
cross-examine witnesses. She was sentenced to life
imprisonment without parole.
At her 2001 retrial, which came after intense U.S.
pressure, she was convicted of the lesser charge of
terrorist collaboration and sentenced to 20 years in
prison, including time served.
But Berenson's defense team, led by former U.S.
Attorney General Ramsey Clark, argued that her retrial
was based on Fujimori's draconian anti-terrorism laws
and failed to meet international standards for due
process.
Also, Berenson was improperly tried twice for the same
crime, Clark said, and faced hostile judges who relied
on coerced testimony and tainted evidence from the
earlier military trial. Berenson has denied any
wrongdoing.
Peruvian legal experts say the court could order
Berenson's release, but they believed it would more
likely give Peru leeway to try her for a third time -
a result that last month Berenson said she also
anticipated.
Her case is a touchy issue for President Alejandro
Toledo, who has vowed that "no accused or convicted
terrorist" will be released on his watch.
Toledo said Saturday at the APEC forum in Chile he
will await the court's ruling before making any
decision on Berenson's fate.
Political analysts say that with his approval rating
hovering around 10 percent, Toledo does not want to be
labeled by opponents as soft on terrorism -
particularly after the embarrassing collapse last week
of a civilian retrial against Shining Path founder
Abimael Guzman and his top rebel commanders.

NORWEGIAN JEWS NOT WELCOME AT KRISTALLNACHT ANNIVERSARY

The Norwegian diplomat Terje Roed-Larsen, who serves as the United Nations
Middle East envoy, heaped praise on Arafat yesterday with an enthusiasm
that would make a Gaullist blush. He was like a surrealistic painting,
full of contradictions, full of mystery, full of inconsistencies, Mr.
Roed-Larsen told Norwegian state radio NRK. He was complex, deep,
superficial, rational, irrational, cold, warm. He may be the most
fascinating person I have ever met, and without comparison the most
fascinating leader I have ever met.

This came at the end of a week in which Norway managed to forbid Jews from
marking the anniversary of Kristallnacht, a step the French havent yet
taken. The local TV2 News reported that no Norwegian Jews participated in
Oslos commemoration of Kristallnacht. TV2 also reported that the
authorities, saying they didnt want trouble, forbade any Jewish symbols,
including Stars of David and Israeli flags, according to Israels Arutz-7
radio station. On the TV2 evening news, a group of Jews and their friends
who wanted to take part in the commemoration were shown being firmly told
by a policeman to please leave the area,^ according to a dispatch from an
American journalist living in Norway, Bruce Bawer, on AndrewSullivan.com.
This in a city where Muslim demonstrations take place on a regular basis,
and include signs and banners bearing hateful, barbaric slogans. The ban
prompted a protest from the Simon Wiesenthal Center to the government of
Norway. November 12, 2004

Finishing What Hitler Started

The media in this county have gone nuts. I actually heard one TV
anchorettewith nice teeth but no brains or sense of history past her first
Barbie Dollrefer to Yasser Arafat as the George Washington of Palestine.

Get this straight: Yasser Arafat was a blood-soaked, sub-human, vile,
reprehensible, murderous animal. Its (his) savagery was unmatched in the
latter half of the 20th Century and the fires of Hell are burning that
much more brightly for his having been spawned.

This sociopathic reptiles terrorist history dates to his founding of Fatah
designed to liberate Israel from the Jews, by way of extermination, in the
1950s. By 1969 he was big dog on the Middle Eastern block, head of a
conglomeration of Islamic terrorist organizations unified under a single
committee on which each is represented.

The Executive Committee of the PLO becomes the Arab equivalent of the Mob
commission founded by Joseph Joe Bananas Bonnano, Lucky Luciano, Tommy
Lucchese, Frank Costello, and Vito Genovese. Joe was a humanitarian
compared to Arafat, the five families were only killing each other at the
time, united to stop that and direct their efforts toward the business at
hand. In Arafats case, the goal of unification was to improve and
coordinate a more effective offensive against innocents.

And what a record Arafat accumulated!

February 21, 1970. Swissair flight 330 blown out of the sky inbound to Tel
Aviv. All passengers and crew lost.

May 8, 1970. Nine school kids and three of their teachers blown to bits
when Arafat orders their school bus obliterated by bazooka fire

September 5, 1972. Also under Arafats direct command, terrorists murder 11
Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics (FYI; Mahmood Abbas, who tops a
short list of successors to Arafat today was the creep who worked out the
logistics for that slaughter)

March 1, 1973. The US Ambassador to the Sudan is among those killed when
Arafats animals take over the Saudi embassy in Khartoum.

May 15 1974. This is one of Arafats best pieces of work. Under orders from
the soon-to-be Nobel Peace Prize winner, a group of PLO tosses grenades
into a group of schoolchildren being held hostage and try to mow down the
survivors with machine guns. Twenty-one children and two adults killed in
the school. A child, home from school sick, is murdered along with both
parents when Arafats guys make a quick stop by the house to see if they
missed anybody.

October 7, 1985. An oldie but goodie. American Leon Klinghoffer is shot in
his wheelchair, which is then rolled off of the Achille Lauros deck and to
a watery grave in the Mediterranean.

January 17, 2002. Sixx killed, 35 wounded when Arafats freedom fighters
machinegun a bat mitzvah. Two dead, 40 injured five days later when
commuters are machine-gunned by Arafats animals at a bus stop. A week
later they burst into a private home to murder an 11-year-old and her
mother

May 27, 2002. The George Washington of Palestine orders an infant and her
grandmother blown to pieces at an ice cream parlor. The next day they mow
down a group of kids playing basketball. Three dead; ages 17, 17 and 14.
The next months high point for Yasser comes with three more dead kids: 16,
12 and 5 in a home invasion, along with their mother and a neighbor who
tried to help the other victims.

May 2004. Arafat dispatches four more kids: 11, 9, 7, 2, and mom when he
RPGs their car.

Those are just a few highlights a partial list, abbreviated because to
publish a complete list of the accomplishments of the founding father of
terrorism would take up this entire publication. There are literally
hundreds of attacks on innocents, hundreds more on mostly off-duty IDF and
ordinary street cops walking their beats. The death toll in the thousands.
But you wont hear this from the American media whose motto is: Warm up the
box cars, we found a nest of em!

Folks, this emperor is as naked as they come:

Item: There is not, never has been, never will be a nation called
Palestine. It is a myth. Atlantis has more validity. Palestine exists only
as a vehicle for the extermination of an entire people and a major goal of
Islamic Jihad in its war against civilization.

Item: If there is a crueler pile of camel manure than Palestine, then it
has got to be the total fiction of a Palestinian people as a group
distinct from Jews, Arabs or the other peoples indigenous to the area.
They have homelands. What they do not have is a Jew-less Israel. This
nonsense about a homeland is just that nonsense. But dangerous nonsense.
These freaks of some twisted politically correct nightmare are furiously
scratching matches over a gas jet trying to relight Auschwitz.

Is there anything holy to our contemptible media? They are celebrating a
monster that did more to advance toward the Final Solution than anybody
since Schickelgrueber Arafat was the bin Laden of his day and now he is
dead. Good, I am glad. I hope it was painful. The appropriate headstone
over the stiff would be a working urinal.

1. From JTA:

Suit filed over al-Dura case

A French television channel filed a defamation suit over claims that the
station faked the infamous shooting of a Palestinian child.

Arlette Charbot, head of news at publicly-owned France 2, which filmed
the death of Mohammed Al-Dura in his fathers arms in the Gaza Strip in
2000, said Friday that certain Internet sites and most notably the
Franco-Israeli Metula News Agency claimed that Al-Dura wasnt dead, his
father had never been injured and the whole thing was set-up and filmed
by France 2. Such claims form the basis of a book published earlier
this year in France by Stephane Juffa, MENAs editor-in-chief.

The death of Al-Dura in a firefight between Israeli soldiers and
Palestinian Authority troops helped inflame anti-Israel passions
throughout the Arab world at the start of the intifada. Israel
apologized for the incident, though subsequent investigations showed the
boy almost certainly wasnt shot from the Israeli side.

Juffa did not return JTA requests for comment. Stephane Friedfeld,
deputy director of the Union of French Jewish Employers and
Professionals, which has distributed in France a German film about the
event, told JTA that France 2 had used its film in a biased way by
stating that Israel was responsible for the boys death. Friedfeld
described the German film as more nuanced than Juffas claims, saying
he did not expect his own organization to be cited in the defamation
action.

Top Hamas man jailed by Israel to go free Thursday

By Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondent

The top Hamas activist in jail in Israel, Sheikh Hassan Yusef, is
scheduled to be released this morning, having completed a two-year prison
sentence.

Yusef, a Ramallah resident who rose to become head of Hamas' political
wing in the West Bank in August 2001, was arrested during Operation
Defensive Shield in April 2002.

After the assassinations of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Abdel Aziz Rantisi
more than six months ago, Hamas reportedly established a new united
leadership in the territories, reserving a slot for a prisoners'
representative, whose name was not publicized. Some indications pointed to
Yusef.

The leadership's weakness in the Gaza Strip after Yassin's death may
increase the relative importance of West Bank representatives in the
organization.

In an interview Yusef gave a few months ago from prison, he said that
Hamas drew encouragement from the rifts terrorism had created in Israeli
society.

The Defamation of General Kochavi

This week's newspapers in Israel carried a news item about a new
senior military appointment in the Israeli Defense Forces:

Brigadier General Aviv Kochavi was appointed commander of the
Israel Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip yesterday. He replaces commander
Brigadier General Shmuel Zakai.

Kochavi, 40, served for the past year as the commander of an elite
army division. Previously he served as commander of the regular
paratrooper division and excelled in battle in the territories during
and after Operation Defensive Shield. Kochavi commanded division
troops that took control of Nablus during that operation. Kochavi is
considered one of the IDF's outstanding field commanders. Kochavi is
scheduled to take up the post in two weeks.

But there is one OTHER important piece of information worth knowing
about General Kochavi. The general and I have something in common.
General Aviv Kochavi and I have both been the victims of malicious
harassment by Neve Gordon, the anti-Semitic lecturer in political
science at Ben Gurion University, best known for his pronouncements that
Israel is a fascist, apartheid, terrorist state.

Gordon filed a malicious "libel suit" against me in Nazareth court
last year because he was upset that I had dared to criticize his public
political writings (he is a syndicated columnist, including for the
viciously anti-Semitic "Counterpunch" magazine published by anti-Semite
Alexander Cockburn) and also his public political activities (I
criticized the fact that he had joined the "Solidarity" pro-terror
demonstrators who illegally entered Ramallah and served as human shields
for Arafat in order to interfere with Israeli counter-terror military
operations). In other words, I criticized an illegal public political
activity of Gordon.

Neve Gordon was particularly upset that I had labeled him a
"groupie of Holocaust Denier Norman Finkelstein" after he had published
articles singing the praises of Norman Finkelstein (who publishes
vicious articles defaming Holocuast survivors and questioning whether
six million Jews were even killed by the Nazis) and Gordon even
comparing Finkelstein ethically to the Prophets of the Bible. Gordon's
articles have been published on the Zundelsite, the web site of the
notorious Nazi and Holocaust Denier Ernst Zundel (see
http://www.intellectualconservative.com/article3528.html ), and in
many other anti-Jewish and anti-Israel web sites and magazines. Gordon
was offended by my criticism of his political behavior. He claimed it
was "libel" and the suit he filed is now working its slow way through
the Israeli court system. Gordon's purpose in this suit was to harass
me for criticizing his politics, to silence me, and to maliciously cause
me to bear legal costs of fighting off the frivolous suit. For those
interested, more background information on this matter is at
http://jewishvoiceandopinion.com/?x=0401P1A&t=Zionist+Professor+Sued+for+Views+in+Israel

and also http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=11402
.

I, however, am not the only victim of Neve Gordon's harassment.
Gordon has conducted a campaign of slander, defilement, vilification,
and defamation.against this very same General Kochavi, the Israeli
military hero that was appointed this week to the senior post described
above.

Beginning in 2002, Gordon published an article declaring Kachavi
(back then still a colonel) to be a war criminal. The article was
published on dozens of web sites and in magazines, and in several
languages, including Hebrew, English, Arabic, German, and Italian. It
not only personally smeared Kochavi falsely. It could reasonably be
interpreted to have been an attempt to motivate acts of violence against
Kochavi, perhaps even incitement to murder. At the very least, it was a
clear attempt to get Kochavi indicted before the International Court of
Justice in the Hague or some similar outfit on trumped up charges.

The article is reprinted in full below. You will notice how Gordon
signs his piece smearing Kochavi while openly listing his affiliation
with Ben Gurion University, in violation of University instructions and
prohibitions on such behavior without a clear accompanying declaration
stating that the views expressed are NOT those of the university! In
this article, as you can see for yourself, Gordon declares that Kochavi
(he spells the name Kohavi) committed atrocities and war crimes against
innocent Palestinian civilians, having given direct personal command to
troops to do these.

Now it goes without saying that this is all Gordon's fabrication.
There have been no charges at all filed against Kochavi for his behavior
in the battle that Gordon describes, in Israel or anywhere else.
Kochavi's troops were hunting for bands of vicious terrorists, including
suicide bombers, who had killed hundreds of Israelis, a carnage that
does not interest Gordon at all in the article. Gordon accuses Kochavi
of ordering assorted human rights violations that even the worst
anti-Israel propaganda outfits did not claim took place in this battle.
Gordon's claim that Kachavi ordered troops to utilize Palestinian
civilians as human shields is not only preposterous, but a downright
blood libel.

So here we have the spectacle of the same person who files a libel
suit because he is outraged that someone criticizes his published
political opinions, yet he launches a worldwide campaign of personal
vilification against one of Israel's greatest military heroes and a
private person to boot. Let us emphasize that Aviv Kochavi, unlike
Gordon, is a private person and not a public person. Gordon is a
syndicated columnist who also has lead and represented assorted far-Left
pro-Palestinian political organizations. Public discussion of Gordon
and his opinions and behavior is a legitimate media topic. Kochavi,
however, is a private person, does not write in the media, represents no
one. He is just a private man doing his job.

Gordon's double standard regarding what constitutes "libel" is
mind-numbing. Kochavi was to have been called to testify against
Gordon in Gordon's own SLAPP suit against me, but the judge truncated
the discovery process before that was possible. SLAPP stands for
Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation, and SLAPP suits are
anti-democratic "libel" suits designed to silence critics through
malicious legal harassment.

If you would like to express your opinion of Gordon smearing
General Kochavi in a worldwide defamation campaign, all this while

University, you could share their thoughts with the officials of Ben

April 8, 2002
A Letter to the IDF's Paratrooper Commander
Colonel Aviv Kohavi, How Did You Become a War Criminal?
By Dr. Neve Gordon
To Colonel Aviv Kohavi
Brigade Commander
of the Israeli Defense Forces Paratroopers
I presume you remember me. In any event, I remember you. We first met
in the paratrooper brigade. I was a platoon sergeant in the corporals
company; you were a young platoon officer. Even then friends of mine who
were serving with you in the same post in Lebanon related that you were
a sensible, serious, and above all decent officer.
The better part of our acquaintance occurred, though, at Hebrew
University. We were studying towards our B.A. in Philosophy--you in
preparation for a career in the military, I as a human rights activist.
During that period we had more than one political discussion. I couldn't
help but admire you. I found you to be a thinking person, imaginative,
and judicious--quite different from the typical army officer that one
meets at the university, one who registers merely to snatch a degree and
to run off. Looking back, I believe that you really enjoyed your
studies, a number of which, it should be noted, dealt with ethical
theory.
Years have passed since we last met. You became the paratroopers'
brigade commander, I a lecturer in the department of politics and
government at Ben Gurion University. On Thursday, March 1, 2002 I once
again saw you, not face to face, but on television. You were on the news
program: the commander of the troops that entered Balata refugee camp,
near Nablus. You solemnly explained that at that very moment your
soldiers were transmitting a forceful message to the Palestinian
terrorists: the Israeli army will hunt them down in every nook and
cranny.
In the days after the interview, news began to trickle about what took
place in the camp: prior to the incursion the Israeli military reigned
terror on the inhabitants employing helicopters and tanks; then, Aviv,
you imposed a curfew on the camp, blew up the electric transmission
lines, cutting off electricity to 20,000 civilian inhabitants;
bulldozers ruined the water supply pipe lines. Your soldiers, Aviv, then
moved from house to house by smashing holes in the interior walls; they
destroyed furniture and other property, and riddled bullets in water
tanks on roof tops. The soldiers spread terror on the inhabitants, most
of whom were women, elderly, and children.
But that wasn't all. I learned that your soldiers also used inhabitants
as human shields. Also, in the first few hours of the incursion the
Palestinians had 120 wounded, and that you, Aviv, refused to allow
ambulances to enter and leave the camp.
There were, of course, several battles in the camp during the
incursion; two Palestinians and one of your soldiers were killed. You
also reported that you confiscated weapons and that your operation
prevented future terrorist acts from happening. But you totally ignored
the connection between Israeli military violence perpetrated in the
Occupied Territories and Palestinian violence in Israel, as if the
incursions into the camps and the reign of terror that you and your
soldiers imposed do not drive Israel/Palestine into a blood bath from
which none can escape.
How, Aviv, do you think that your incursion affected the children whom
you locked up for hours with other members of their families, while you
searched their house and blasted holes through their walls? Did your
incursion contribute a smithereen to peace, or did it instead spread
seeds of hatred, despondence, and death in the crowded, poverty
stricken, hopeless refugee camp?
I have not stopped thinking about you since that television interview,
trying to understand what was going on in your mind. What caused you to
lead your soldiers --soldiers of the paratrooper brigade -- to a war
against a civilian population?
Aviv, I am presently teaching a course entitled "The Politics of Human
Rights." One of the topics I discuss during the semester is the intifada
and its lessons with respect to human rights. From the standpoint of
international conventions, at least, your acts in Balata constitute
blatant violations of human rights. Such acts are, in fact, war crimes.
Aviv, what happened to the sensible and judicious officer? How did you
become a war criminal?

1. Eyal Sivan is an ex-Israel French anti-Israel propagandist. He makes
venomous propaganda movies against Israel and Jews. In one of his recent
movies,
"Route 181 - Splinter from a Trip in Palestine-Israel," he devotes much of
the screen time to justifying the Arab attack on Israel in 1948 desinged
to annihilate Israel (and its population) and which coincidentally gobbled
up the land the UN had allocated to an Arab state of Palestine. The
Arabs, declares Sivan, were in the right when they attacked Israel because
they were seeking a nice
bi-national state with an Arab majority in which the Jews would be treated
almost as well as the southern Sudanese Christians and animists. The
film also alleges
all sorts of gory Israeli "war crimes" against the poor innocent Arabs of
1948, including alleged rapes. The film is capped by scenes of railroad
tracks designed to be associated in the minds of French viewers with
scenes from the "SHOAH" movie about the Holocaust, and of course with
Israel in the role of nazi Germany. Alain Finkielkraut, the French Jewish
author, denounced SIvan for this movie, claiming Sivan is an "anti-Semitic
Jew". Sivan then decided to file a Neve Gordon-style malicious SLAPP
harassment suit against Alain Finkielkraut for "libeling" him.

Meanwhile, other French intellectuals petitioned the Pompideau Center
and other institutions not to screen the scurrilous propaganda film of
Sivan, successfully. It was not screened.

But now, the same anti-Semitic film by Sivan that French institutions
refuse to screen, yes it is even too anti-Semitic for FRENCH tastes, is to
be screened by the far-Left anti-Israel Jerusalem Cinematek, which always
is on the lookout for anti-Israel propaganda that it can screen as "art".
You may recall its role in promoting the Goebbals-like film "Jenin Jenin".
The Cinamatek is funded by the Jerusalem Municipality and by Jerusalem tax
payers. The architecture department at the Bezalel College will also be
showing it.

Last weekend a conference of Israel bashers was held in Paris and
